Manufacturing Design Engineer

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Design Engineer to join our team at 2140 K-T GMBH. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing optical alignment and metrology processes to improve manufacturing cycle time and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze technical manufacturing and field-related issues using diagnostics, protocols, and theory of operations to present concepts and solutions to the field support team or management.
- Implement optical alignment and metrology processes or test/tooling fixtures to improve manufacturing cycle time or cost.
- Improve opto-mechanical designs for manufacturability and specify optical components and sub-systems such as lasers, LEDs, optical filters, cameras, sensors, and lens assemblies.
- Follow a design process by performing reviews, technical alignment with vendors, first-article inspection, testing, prototype integration, and design release.
- Generate and maintain process and equipment work instructions, drawings, and other production documents to conform to specifications.
- Work with Quality and Purchasing departments to resolve component/part quality problems, drive overall supplier quality improvements, and cost reductions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics or other optic-related subject.
- 1-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to understand optical subsystems and their interface with other subsystems.
- Basic experience with optical designs and simulations in Zemax.
- Programming capabilities with MATLAB or Python for user interfaces.
- Able to present and communicate technical data.
- Ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines.
- Be able to work in a multi-discipline and multi-culture global team.
- Experience with spectroscopy, coatings, and optomechanics is a plus.
