We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Engineer to join our Process R&D team at IFF Pharma Solutions. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving our sustainability strategy forward.
Key Responsibilities- Champion life cycle and sustainability thinking in product and process development, manufacturing technology, production, and core sustainability functions.
- Act as sustainability focal point for new and existing product and process development initiatives, developing solutions for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) integration.
- Perform LCA using appropriate modeling software, calculating the carbon footprint of existing and new products, including production technologies.
- Track and communicate sustainability goals and indicators, including energy and natural resource usage, renewable resources, waste generation, and recycling.
- Collaborate with R&D and various functions to collect relevant data for LCA modeling.
- Document results in SimaPro and other relevant formats.
- Identify strategic sustainability approaches and anchor them in operational processes and organizational structures.
- Enable and support audit processes by integrating sustainability aspects into ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audits.
- Monitor or track sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling.
We are looking for a highly qualified professional with a strong background in sustainability, life cycle assessment, and green chemistry. Your expertise will enable you to drive our sustainability strategy forward and contribute to the development of innovative, eco-friendly products and processes.
Key qualifications include:
- PhD or M.Sc. in science or engineering (STEM) or B.Sc. with extended professional experience in industrial processes, energy, environmental, or sustainability.
- Relevant professional experience and track record in similar sustainability roles (at least 3 years).
- Proficient in using LCA software (e.g., SimaPro Expert or similar).
- At least 2 years of experience in external reporting, compliance, sustainability certification programs, energy transition, carbon footprinting, and project management in the field of sustainability.
- Data-driven and critical thinker combined with a business-oriented mindset.
- Ability to perform independently as well as interact effectively within international and cross-functional teams.
