Sustainability Engineer

About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Engineer to join our Process R&D team at International Flavors & Fragrances. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing sustainable solutions for our pharmaceutical and food production technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Champion life cycle and sustainability thinking in product and process development, manufacturing technology, production, and core sustainability functions.
• Act as sustainability focal point for new and existing product and process development initiatives, developing solutions for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) integration.
• Perform LCA using appropriate modeling software, calculating the carbon footprint of existing and new products, including production technologies.
• Track and communicate sustainability goals and indicators, including energy and natural resource usage, renewable resources, waste generation, and recycling.
• Collaborate with R&D and various functions to collect relevant data for LCA modeling.
• Document results in SimaPro and other relevant formats.
• Identify strategic sustainability approaches and anchor them in operational processes and organizational structures.
• Enable and support audit processes by integrating sustainability aspects into ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audits.
• Monitor or track sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Engineer with a strong background in industrial processes, energy, environmental, or sustainability. You should have a PhD or M.Sc. in science or engineering (STEM) or a B.Sc. with extended professional experience. Relevant professional experience and a track record in similar sustainability roles are essential.
