Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated researcher to join our team at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing computational models of engineering components for use in integrated Stellarator reactor studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain computational models of engineering components, such as magnet systems and power balances, to support integrated Stellarator reactor studies.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to identify and prioritize research objectives and develop strategies for achieving them.
  • Design and implement experiments to test and validate computational models.
  • Communicate research results through publications and presentations.
  • Supervise and mentor PhD students and postdoctoral researchers as needed.
Requirements:
  • PhD in physics or engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in programming and code development.
  • Experience working with complex code frameworks.
  • Experience with surrogate modeling is beneficial.
  • Fundamental knowledge in magnetic confinement fusion is beneficial.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
