Computational Modeler for Stellarator Reactor Studies

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing computational models of engineering components to be used in integrated Stellarator reactor studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop computational models of engineering components, such as magnet systems and power balance, to support Stellarator reactor studies
- Collaborate with our team to design and implement interface specifications for Stellarator reactor studies
- Contribute to the publication and communication of scientific results through peer-reviewed articles and presentations
- Supervise PhD students and provide guidance on their research projects
Requirements
- PhD in physics or engineering
- Advanced knowledge and skills in programming and code development
- Experience working with complex code frameworks
- Experience with surrogate modeling is an asset
- Fundamental knowledge of magnetic confinement fusion is an asset
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
