Our expertise in economic advice on competition policy and regulation is unparalleled. We assist firms and their legal advisors in all types of competition proceedings, including merger control, cartels, restrictive commercial agreements, abuse of dominance, and state aid. We also provide advice on regulatory proceedings and sector inquiries, as well as assistance on estimating damages in cartel cases, international arbitration, and intellectual property disputes.

Position Overview

Candidates will be expected to take on significant responsibility, assisting Vice Presidents and senior staff by providing conceptual and practical input to competition case work as required. This role offers the possibility of working on some of the largest and most significant competition cases in Europe, playing a key role in shaping the cases.

Desired Qualifications

  • A first degree in economics and a PhD/DPhil in economics from a well-regarded institution with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialism in large data sets or Industrial Organisation and/or statistics/econometrics, plus up to 3 years of relevant work experience. Non-PhD applicants should have strong academic achievement in a Master's program, plus 5-7 years' relevant work experience;
  • Fluency in English and German, with additional fluency in Dutch or French desirable;
  • Professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority is strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition/regulatory authorities, competition policy, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
  • Demonstrated high-level initiative and leadership;
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities;
  • Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills.
