Job Overview
As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service by welcoming customers warmly, addressing their inquiries, and efficiently managing cash register operations. Your role will also involve maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the store, along with assisting in administrative tasks as needed.
Essential Qualifications
- Prior experience in cashiering is preferred (3-12 months).
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and guide them to the checkout area.
- Efficiently operate the cash register and handle transactions.
- Assist customers in locating merchandise or request additional assistance as necessary.
- Respond to customer inquiries in person or over the phone within established guidelines.
- Recommend additional products to enhance customer purchases.
- Lift and manage heavy or awkward items as required.
- Address customer complaints with professionalism and courtesy.
- Implement and uphold security protocols.
- Create a welcoming environment and leave a positive impression on customers.
- Assist with processing returns and exchanges, including completing necessary documentation.
- Manage special orders and follow up with customers as needed.
- Communicate inventory shortages and assist with stock management.
- Support stocking, receiving, pricing, and tagging of merchandise.
- Maintain neat and organized shelves and displays.
- Participate in store cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, and sanitizing areas.
- Ensure the checkout area is tidy and presentable.
- Complete and manage rainchecks.
- Handle customer farm plan transactions.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management, which may include delivering carry-outs or preparing food items.
Required Skills and Abilities
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The following skills and abilities are essential:
- Ability to learn and perform phone answering, filing, typing, and cash register operations.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Basic math skills and ability to perform light bookkeeping.
- Capability to assist with maintenance and minor repairs.
- Ability to draft and understand correspondence and reports.
- Dependable, responsible, and well-presented.
- Positive demeanor, friendly, honest, and patient.
Physical Requirements
This position involves frequent physical activities, including lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Occasional requirements may include lifting over 50 lbs., climbing stairs, and squatting. The associate must be able to communicate effectively and is required to work scheduled shifts, including evenings and weekends, while adhering to attendance standards. Vision capabilities must be sufficient to perform job responsibilities efficiently. Manual dexterity is necessary for operating a computer or cash register.
Work Environment
Work is primarily conducted within the store; however, some tasks may occur outdoors in varying weather conditions. The environment is typically fast-paced, with regular deadlines and sales goals. Associates may encounter noise and vibrations and may be exposed to various hazards. Protective equipment may be required based on specific tasks.

Operating Hours:
Corporate Office (Core Hours): 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Mon-Fri.
Distribution Center: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM (1st Shift) and 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM (2nd Shift).
Store Locations: Vary by location, generally operating from 8:00 AM-8:00 PM Mon-Sat and 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Sun.
