About the Role

Lucht Probst Associates (LPA) is a leading provider of specialized software solutions to the banking and financial sectors. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Frankfurt am Main office as an IT Controller, playing a crucial role in guiding the financial and operational control of our IT and software development departments.

As an IT Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring that our technology projects are managed efficiently, with a keen eye on cost control, budgeting, and compliance. You will work closely with project/professional services controlling as well as Group Finance to help steer the financial health and operational efficiency of our technology organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budget Analysis and Management
    • Support the creation and refinement of annual IT cost budgets that align with overall business goals.
    • Work closely with Group Finance to clarify budget deviations and provide insights into monthly revenue and cost reporting against the budget.
  • Project & Cost Monitoring
    • Oversee time tracking, ensuring the quality of bookings and adherence to our project structures in our time booking system.
    • Track project timelines and costs, analyze efforts, and maintain strict control over project budgets and monitor infrastructure costs and usage, providing monthly reports.
  • OKR Champion
    • Organize ongoing status meetings to review OKRs, maintain the OKR set, and track progress within the IT teams.
  • License Management
    • Create, maintain, and regularly update a software license database to ensure accurate tracking of license costs versus usage. Further, play a key role in license cost forecasting, annual budgeting and vendor (re-)negotiations.
  • Comprehensive Reporting
    • Prepare the overall Product Management, Development and IT Budget status, including forecasts and mid-term development.
    • Conduct detailed monthly analysis of Actuals vs. Budget vs. Forecast reports, both in total and by product line.
    • Contribute insights through time tracking reports, suggesting corrections where necessary.
    • Engage in What-If analysis and collaborate on specific financial studies with Technology Leadership and Group Finance.
  • Vendor Management
    • Offshoring: Manage vendor Statements of Work (SOW) to ensure cost transparency in offshore engagements.
    • Develop and maintain stable onboarding/offboarding processes and facilitate regular vendor performance reviews.
    • Hosting Providers: Assist in the budgeting of hosting costs, support mid-term planning for infrastructure efficiencies, and monitor both monthly and annual expenditures.
    • External Trainer/Contractor Management: Create and manage a central database of trainers and vendors, ensuring a streamlined Request for Quotation (RfQ) process for all external training requirements.
  • Compliance Monitoring
    • Coordinate with LPA's Compliance team to keep audit calendars updated and ensure core processes are compliant with the S-SDLC.
    • Regularly report on compliance status.
    Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics, Economics or Business Sciences with relevant specialization (such as IT, controlling, finance, etc.) or a successfully completed professional training as qualified IT / commercial specialist

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in (IT-)controlling or obtained with an audit, professional services or consulting firm
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and cost management within IT departments or technology-based companies.
  • A keen understanding of project and cost monitoring is essential.
  • Familiarity with software licensing management, IT vendor oversight, and compliance protocols, particularly in a tech-driven environment servicing financial institutions.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with cross-functional teams, particularly interfacing with finance departments, project management, and senior leadership.
  • Exceptional communication skills to drive alignment across various departments and to present financial insights in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Proven track record in managing complex processes, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining strict oversight on project budgets and timelines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage and organize multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality
  • Strong project management experience, including the ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and coordinate various stakeholders
  • Resilient team player with hands-on mindset, can-do attitude and the willingness to get to the bottom of things
  • Business fluent proficiency in German and English, both spoken and written
