Student Financial Aid Specialist

The Student Financial Advisor is a key member of the Financial Aid Office at Tallahassee Community College. This role requires a strong understanding of federal, state, and institutional award programs, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service to students and their families, ensuring accurate and timely information regarding financial aid processing, eligibility, and awarding.
Key Responsibilities- Meet with students and families to assist with the financial aid application process and answer questions related to eligibility, awarding, and disbursement of financial aid funds.
- Review incoming documents and resolve pre-verification conflicts when completing the required verification of selected applicants.
- Conduct administrative responsibilities for program compliance, including FAFSA Verification, Return to Title IV evaluation and processing, Federal Pell Grant disbursement and reconciliation, and Florida Student Assistance Grant reporting and reconciliation.
An Associate's degree with 2 years of clerical or customer services experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
The successful candidate will possess knowledge of the Title IV programs and financial aid satisfactory progress for all Title IV recipients, as well as Federal and State regulations related to institutional compliance, processing, and awarding of Federal and State aid. Proficiency in PC, LAN mainframe access, EDExpress, EDConnect, COD, and Financier is also required.
