Your Profile

  • You possess a Master's degree or equivalent in computer science or a related field (such as statistics, operations research, or management science with a focus on data and/or process science) and are enthusiastic about pursuing a career in data science research.
  • Your academic performance places you among the top of your graduating class, as demonstrated by your grades and supported by references.
  • You are a quick learner, committed, independent, and innovative.
  • You have knowledge of process mining, such as having completed relevant courses or MOOCs.
  • You exhibit a genuine interest or experience in process mining and are prepared to showcase this during the application process.
  • You possess strong analytical abilities and are eager to implement your concepts in software.
  • You are ambitious yet work well in a team environment.
  • You have excellent proficiency in English and are keen to present your ideas effectively.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will engage in pioneering research in process mining within one of the leading data science groups.
  • You will collaborate on research initiatives with industry partners who provide data and feedback on your findings.
  • You will oversee Bachelor and Master students involved in related projects and have some teaching responsibilities.
  • You will present your research at national and international conferences and work towards a PhD thesis over a four-year period.

Within the Process and Data Science (PADS) group, there are four specialized subgroups focusing on (1) foundations of process mining, (2) handling large/distributed/streaming/uncertain event data, (3) automated operational process enhancement, and (4) responsible process mining, which addresses issues related to fairness, accuracy, confidentiality, and transparency. You will receive guidance towards a PhD in one of these exciting areas based on your background and interests.

Our Offer

  • The position is temporary for four years, initially for one year with the possibility of extension for an additional three years.
  • This is a full-time role.
  • There is an opportunity to pursue a doctorate.
  • The position is classified as EG 13 TV-L.
