About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced System & Study Engineer to join our team at Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG. As a key member of our Grid Solutions team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex HVDC protection systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize and develop HVDC overall systems
- Support research and development topics for HVDC projects
- Perform functional and performance tests using model-based testing (MBT) in SIMULINK and hardware in the loop (HiL) with real-time simulation systems (RTDS)
- Contribute to the programming of software for DC protection and measurement systems in Matlab/Simulink
- Perform DC protection coordination studies for HVDC systems, including determination of DC protection settings and preparation of study documentation
- Support creation of DC protection concepts for self-guided multilevel converters with half-bridge modules for different applications
- Lead projects from offer to engineering phase, performance, and customer acceptance tests, as well as support during plant commissioning
Requirements
- Experience in high voltage transmission or university degree in electrical engineering, ideally in power electronics, high voltage, or energy transmission systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for outcome-oriented and creative project development
- Very good German and English knowledge
- Knowledge in MATLAB/SIMULINK, ideally in combination with real-time and embedded software, as well as modeling and simulation with PSCAD/EMTDC
- Experience in software project planning and testing of SRS-systems (control, regulation, and system dynamics) is welcome
- Initial experience in control and protection, especially in DC protection concepts for HVDC, FACTS, or large converter applications is advantageous
- Willingness to learn new things, independency, and proactivity, outcome-oriented action
