Position Overview

Amazon is in search of a seasoned Senior Tax Professional to enhance our EU direct tax advisory team. This pivotal role is centered on bolstering Amazon's rapidly expanding Consumer sector within the EMEA region, particularly focusing on the German market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee tax audits and disputes in Germany and Austria, ensuring effective communication and building trust with tax authorities.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate legislative changes in Germany and other significant EMEA markets, such as Austria and Poland, to guarantee compliance.
  • Assist international and local tax controversy teams during tax audits in German-speaking countries.
  • Deliver strategic tax guidance on international corporate income tax matters related to various projects and new business ventures.
  • Conduct thorough technical analyses, facilitating informed decision-making and problem-solving on complex tax issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business, legal, accounting, and finance departments.
  • Investigate and address both internal and external information requests.

Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of ten years of advisory experience in a prominent accounting consultancy, law firm, tax authority, or corporate environment.
  • Fluency in English and German is essential.
  • A Bachelor's degree in tax, accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of German tax legislation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of a recognized professional tax qualification, such as a Steuerberater (German Tax Advisor) or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in managing intricate international tax issues, focusing on corporate income tax, transfer pricing, permanent establishment, and cross-border transactions.
  • A proven history of effectively handling complex tax audits and disputes with tax authorities, demonstrating measurable impact and successful resolutions.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with a keen understanding of processes and systems.
