Position Overview

Amazon is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Tax Professional to enhance our EU direct tax advisory group. This role is pivotal in supporting Amazon's rapidly expanding Consumer sector within the EMEA region, particularly focusing on the German market.

Location
The position is available in multiple locations including Munich, Luxembourg, London, and Berlin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee tax audits and disputes in Germany and Austria, ensuring effective communication and trust-building with tax authorities.
  • Track and assess legislative changes in Germany and other significant EMEA markets, ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
  • Assist both international and local tax controversy teams during tax audits in German-speaking regions.
  • Deliver strategic tax guidance on international corporate income tax matters across various projects and new business ventures.
  • Perform comprehensive technical analyses, facilitating informed decision-making and problem resolution on complex tax issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business, legal, accounting, and finance departments.
  • Address and respond to internal and external information inquiries.

Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of ten years of advisory experience in a large accounting firm, law practice, tax authority, or corporate environment.
  • Fluency in English and German is essential.
  • A Bachelor's degree in tax, accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience with German tax legislation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of a recognized professional tax qualification, such as a Steuerberater (German Tax Advisor) or equivalent.
  • Significant experience managing intricate international tax issues, particularly in corporate income tax, transfer pricing, permanent establishment, and cross-border transactions.
  • A successful history of navigating complex tax audits and disputes with tax authorities, demonstrating measurable outcomes and effective resolutions.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with an aptitude for understanding processes and systems.
