Job Summary:
Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Track Vehicle Inspector to join our team. As a Track Vehicle Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting inspections on different classifications of track vehicles/equipment at the unit level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections on track vehicles/equipment to ensure compliance with Amentum and APS-2 established standards.
- Investigate complaints and violations, prepare reports of findings and action taken or recommended.
- Oversee and conduct initial inspections upon delivery of equipment and record data information for the processing of maintenance work orders.
- Prepare records of inspection/tests and make them available to the QA/QC Department.
- Verify procedures being used are adequate for the effective control of quality, rejects defective workmanship and materials.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to shop maintenance personnel on inspection principles of workmanship, procedures to be employed, and quality of work expected.
- Ensure compliance with government and corporate regulations, company SOPs, directives, and technical manuals to establish and maintain a quality management program.
- Maintain crosstalk with QA and LAR representatives.
- Coordinate with Shop Supervisor when technical problems arise and in-depth mechanical knowledge is required.
- Cross train when required to ensure maximum flexibility and possession of technical skills in the development and maintenance of quality programs.
- Instill a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years actual and recent experience inspecting or performing maintenance on the following track vehicles: M2A3, M3A3, M1A2, M109, M113, M577, M1068, M1064, M992, and M88A2.
- Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of general quality inspection procedures, maintenance forms, records, reporting system, and management thereof.
- Must have knowledge of the scopes and limitations of various categories of maintenance and their applications to the contract unit.
- Must be capable of reading, interpreting and using complex blueprints, schematic diagrams, and data tables.
- Must be able to perform complete technical inspection of contract units and be able to determine that completed repairs comply with standards described in applicable publications.
- Must be able to instruct and demonstrate correct maintenance techniques and procedures.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all Logistics Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must have knowledge of diagnostics tools and forms used at the unit level.
- Must be able to read vehicle/equipment schematics.
- Must have the ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals with relation to track maintenance and repair.
- Valid US driver's license is required.
- Army 91H or equivalent military experience preferred.
- Full or partial Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or European equivalent preferred.
