About the Role:

Bruker BioSpin GmbH is a leading global manufacturer of analytical measurement systems for the life and material sciences. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Compliance Counsel to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise senior leadership and HR teams on employment law matters in an international setting, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide legal support and strategic advice on German labor law issues, managing and resolving complex labor disputes and providing representation in labor court proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on new labor laws and their implications for the company, developing and updating templates and processes for employment contracts, works council agreements, and other labor law documents.
  • Provide advice on employment law aspects in compliance investigations, working closely with the Chief Privacy Officer and Privacy Team to ensure compliance with the EU GDPR and related case law.
  • Support the development of employment law-related policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Train and support leadership on employment law topics, such as handling warnings, conducting terminations, and supporting cultural shifts towards a performance-oriented culture.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified German lawyer with approximately 5 years or more of experience specializing in employment law, preferably gained in a law firm before moving in-house.
  • Thorough knowledge of the application of the EU GDPR and German BDSG in the employment context.
  • Understanding of personal data processing by IT systems, especially data regarding productivity generated by said systems, and service provisions within a group of undertakings.
