Role Overview
Our International Law & Global Trading division within the Legal & Compliance function in Düsseldorf is seeking a seasoned professional.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal counsel on national and European regulatory matters affecting Uniper's global energy operations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of physical and financial commodity transactions, including power, natural gas, hydrogen, coal, oil, freight, emissions, green certificates, ammonia, and LNG, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
- Lead or support internal investigations and address inquiries related to trading compliance, particularly concerning regulations such as REMIT II and MAR.
- Play a pivotal role in the ongoing implementation of energy market and financial regulatory requirements.
- Design and deliver training sessions, both in-person and online, for front office and support teams.
- Collaborate with members of the Legal & Compliance team and relevant stakeholders (e.g., Business, Risk, Audit) to resolve daily trading compliance challenges.
- Assist with special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Strong academic credentials in law or economics.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the industry or banking sector, focusing on national and European regulations, particularly in commodities or financial market trading.
- In-depth knowledge of MiFID II, EMIR, and MAR is essential.
- Experience with REMIT II and/or SFTR is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical abilities, sound judgment, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Capability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a dynamic, fast-paced global environment.
- Proven ability to lead and work autonomously on responsibilities outlined in the job description.
- Ability to engage with all levels of management.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in German is a plus.
