Senior Legal Counsel for Energy Market Regulations

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our International Law & Global Trading team in Düsseldorf.
As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for advising Uniper's global energy business on issues of national and European regulation. You will actively review physical and financial commodity transactions, such as power, natural gas, hydrogen, coal, oil, freight, emissions, green certificates, ammonia, and LNG, to ensure regulatory compliance.
You will lead or assist internal investigations and responses to internal and external inquiries in the area of trading compliance, including REMIT II and MAR. You will play a key role in the implementation of energy market and financial regulation requirements.
You will create and present live classroom and online trainings for front office and support colleagues on regulatory compliance. You will coordinate with members of the Legal & Compliance team and all relevant stakeholders to resolve day-to-day trading compliance issues.
You will assist with special projects as needed.
We are looking for a strong academic background in law or economics, with a minimum of 10 years of experience advising in the industry or banking sector on issues of national and European regulations, particularly in the context of commodities or financial market trading.
You should have specific experience in MiFID II, EMIR, and MAR, and specific experience in REMIT II and/or SFTR is preferred but not required.
You should have strong attention to detail, analytical skills, judgment, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills. You should have good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment.
You should be able to take the lead and work independently on any responsibilities within the job description. You should be able to interact with all levels of management.
Excellent verbal and written command of the English language is essential, and German language skills are desirable.
