Senior Director of Hazardous Materials

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director of Hazardous Materials to join our team at Hapag-Lloyd AG. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant transportation of hazardous materials worldwide.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a team of dedicated professionals in the global dangerous goods department, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the efficiency of the entire dangerous goods process, aligning with our company's Strategy 2030.
- Collaborate with global partner lines, authorities, and laboratories to resolve conflicts and ensure compliance with international regulations.
- Maintain a high level of expertise in dangerous goods within the organization and provide training to customers through global roadshows and dedicated training programs.
- Strengthen and accelerate the validation of dangerous goods in our Knowledge Centre and monitor process performance to facilitate future steering.
- Review and improve the global dangerous goods organization, setting operational targets and KPIs for regular C-level meetings.
- Extensive experience in a similar role, covering international shipping operations with excellent knowledge of hazardous materials.
- Proven track record of leadership experience, including team management, motivation, and talent development.
- Strong ability to work under high pressure and with high personal responsibility for the safety of seafarers, assets, and the environment.
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and interact in a matrix organization up to C-level.
- Experience in driving negotiations and delivering results, with strong analytical and organizational qualities.
- Fluent English language skills, with additional languages a plus.
