About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join our Polycarbonate R&D team at Covestro. As a Research Scientist, you will play a key role in the development of new product solutions for our B2B business in attractive target markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of new thermoplastics at our Leverkusen site.
- Conduct independent organic synthesis of monomers to develop new starting materials for innovative thermoplastics.
- Plan, carry out, and document laboratory work, with support from our team.
- Interpret analysis results independently, in close cooperation with analytical departments.
- Accompany upscaling experiments of selected polymer structures.
- Present results to colleagues and project partners.
- Familiarize yourself with other processes at our company and gain insights into our culture and innovative strength.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, business chemistry, or polymer chemistry, with a Master's degree or gap year between Bachelor's and Master's/Master's and doctorate.
- Basic knowledge of organic synthesis, polymer synthesis, and/or relevant analytics (e.g. NMR, GC, GPC).
- Good knowledge of MS Office.
- Structured way of working, team-oriented, and strong communication skills.
- Very good knowledge of German, with good command of English an advantage.
