Creating a Sustainable Future

The Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) initiative is a transformative 5-year endeavor aimed at establishing a 525kV, 2GW high voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea transmission cable connecting Scotland and England. This project represents the longest HVDC cable in the UK and stands as the nation's largest transmission undertaking, capable of powering 2 million homes. BAM Nuttall is collaborating with Hitachi Energy (HEBAM) for this venture, with HEBAM overseeing the construction of two HVDC Converter Stations.

We are eager to enhance our Site Engineering team to encompass all facets of this significant project, which will be headquartered at a location adjacent to a major power station.

Your Responsibilities

As a Site Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Upholding high standards of safety and environmental practices.
  • Overseeing the work of junior engineers.
  • Ensuring construction drawings and specifications are comprehensive and precise.
  • Providing clear and accurate site layout guidance.
  • Facilitating effective communication with foremen and site teams.
  • Coordinating formal checks of site layouts.
  • Completing inspection and testing protocols.
  • Maintaining a detailed daily site log.
  • Preparing four-week project schedules.
  • Calculating material requirements accurately.
  • Tracking material usage for reporting purposes.
  • Ensuring proper documentation of material deliveries.
  • Conducting material testing and sampling.
  • Assisting the measurement team as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate survey records.
  • Receiving and inspecting materials upon delivery.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who meet the following essential criteria:

  • A degree or HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent NVQ Level.
  • CSCS certification as an Academically or Professionally Qualified Person/Supervisor/Manager.
  • SSSTS certification.


Desirable qualifications include:

  • Proven experience in an Assistant Engineer role.
  • Progress towards ICE Technician or Incorporated level qualifications is preferred.
