About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD Researcher to join our team in the field of physical lake modelling. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing the potential ecological impacts of hydrothermal use of lakes and reservoirs, and for developing new methods for evaluating the thermal dynamics of these systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply 1D physical lake models to explore thermal dynamics and their modifications by hydrothermal use
  • Evaluate ecological impacts on lakes, including potential future climatic changes
  • Frame rules for determining allowable heat extractions in cooperation with the project team
  • Quantify a nationwide hydrothermal usage potential from standing waters

Requirements

  • Master's degree in limnology, physics, environmental sciences, or related disciplines
  • Programming skills and experience in dynamic models, GIS, and good communication abilities
