Senior Security Design Engineer

Job Summary:

M.C. Dean is seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Design Engineer to join our team in Stuttgart, Germany. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and deploying various technologies to improve our customers' physical security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop systems and project requirements as per clients' needs
  • Collaborate with clients, partners, vendors, and internal teams to provide best-in-class solutions
  • Design high-level systems with required technical specifications
  • Prepare new builds and projects drawings, specifications, technology product selection, installation sequence planning, commissioning testing/commissioning scripts, process streamlining, and improvements

Essential Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Define and determine design projects scope of work based on customers' needs
  • Review Request for Proposals (RFP) documentation, Statement of Work, and Client Specifications provided for new project bids
  • Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and Forecast Engineering Time for new project bids
  • Develop procedures to validate system configuration, test plans, deployment/commissioning plans, and administration procedures
  • Develop and improve design standards
  • Lead complex projects, mentor, and oversee project execution through design excellence processes, ensuring high delivery quality
  • Design, sustain, and provide technical support for deployed security systems
  • Partner with engineering leadership to identify skill gaps and prioritize training initiatives
  • Collaborate with installation, deployment, and Project Management teams to ensure standards are maintained, provide recommendations, and guidance on solution deployments, and assist in resolving issues at a high level
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams on new technology developments or changes in customers' environments that may require new solutions
  • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications like CCURE (Software House), Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, and/or others
  • Help identify, as needed, new technologies and/or changes in customer environments that may require new solutions and present them to senior engineering management to be developed
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs

Specific Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering adjacent (Electrical, Computer Science)
  • 5-7 years of security systems and design experience
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying Physical Security Systems
  • Experience with defining engineering scope of work and leading engineering and technical teams
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Experience designing and maintaining engineering solutions
  • High level of expertise with AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer
  • Self-motivated and driven
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • AutoCAD
  • BIM/Revit
  • Bluebeam
  • Access control system certifications (Software House CCURE, Lenel)
  • Video Management Systems Certifications (Genetec, Milestone, Axis)

  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard
