As a key member of our team, you will oversee risk management for our energy trading operations, collaborating closely with trading desks to ensure optimal performance.
- Your role will involve implementing risk-averse modifications to existing operational methodologies to mitigate potential future risks.
- You will conduct comprehensive risk assessments, ensuring compliance with our risk management framework, which includes Value at Risk (VaR), stress testing, and validation of parameters utilized in valuation and risk assessment models.
- Collaboration with financial planning, energy accounting, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, contract management, and gas & power supply operations will be essential to stay informed about current developments and regulatory issues in the energy sector.
- Additionally, you will provide analytical insights to support strategic initiatives and the portfolio hedging strategy, keeping abreast of trends in the Energy and Commodity markets and delivering regular updates to the team and stakeholders.
- Lastly, you will conduct training sessions to enhance awareness of risk management practices, educating both business and operational teams.
- A degree in economics, business administration, mathematics, business mathematics, business information systems, or equivalent experience in the energy, finance, or insurance sectors is required. Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification is advantageous.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the energy sector is essential, with a focus on power being a plus.
- Familiarity with trading systems, particularly ETRM systems (e.g., Allegro, FIS, Contigo), and experience in operational finance and risk roles, especially in power or commodity sectors, is preferred.
- A strong understanding of risk management principles and prior experience in risk-related roles (e.g., risk assistant or risk analyst) is necessary.
- Knowledge of economic optimization, risk analysis, and market analytics is important.
- Excellent research capabilities, utilizing both online resources and direct interviews, are required.
- Proficiency in computer skills, data entry, and MS Office, along with strong communication skills in English (and ideally German), is essential.
