This pivotal position centers on delivering comprehensive financial support for various brands and categories within the German market. The incumbent will collaborate closely with category marketing teams, particularly the VP of Marketing for Germany, while also engaging with European and Global Marketing and Innovation teams, emphasizing the importance of matrix collaboration.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate independence, possess the capability to constructively challenge and influence, and excel in effective communication across all organizational levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a principal finance business partner and trusted advisor for the designated category.
- Drive the development of robust business cases and monitor performance metrics, particularly for new innovations.
- Collaborate with category and sales teams to devise pricing and promotional strategies.
- Deliver insightful reporting, assess business performance, track KPIs, and identify emerging issues and trends.
- Support and critically evaluate the category team in investment decisions and profit enhancement initiatives, including marketing expenditure efficiency and portfolio management.
- Represent the finance function in category meetings and innovation forums, providing critical insights and financial perspectives.
- Review monthly forecasts for volume, trade marketing, and marketing expenditures, addressing any areas of concern.
- Ensure proper governance of all marketing expenditures, including adherence to the purchase order process and Ariba system.
- Assist in tracking and updating the German strategy regarding category development and initiative concepts.
- Conduct competitive analysis and respond to ad hoc analytical requests.
- Monitor and track SG&A spending, providing support to junior category finance colleagues.
- Potentially engage in global flagship projects.
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in corporate finance strategy, strategic financial planning, and change management.
- A Master's degree with a specialization in finance; international experience is advantageous.
- A strong international perspective and excellent ability to navigate a global matrix organization.
- Fluency in German is essential, with proficiency in additional languages highly desirable.
