Data Engineer (gn)

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Innovation Hub team in Garching. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our data management infrastructure.

Your Role in Our Team

  • Design and implement data management infrastructure, including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Ensure scalability, flexibility, and maintainability of our data solutions.
  • Integrate data from various sources into our target system.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Design and implement data models to enable efficient data usage.
  • Support data governance and monitoring.
  • Represent the team and our key initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor team members and collaborate with data scientists and analysts to create insights.
  • Collaborate with Oerlikon business departments to advise and support the design of data applications.

Your Profile

  • Completed studies in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant working experience.
  • Excellent language skills in English, German beneficial.
  • Experience with established data manipulation languages (SQL and Python).
  • General software development skills (source code management, debugging, testing, deployment, etc.).
  • Strong experience in data modeling, data management, and data querying (DWH, SQL/noSQL).
  • Setting up ETL pipelines (Python, Spark) in a cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS).
  • Experience in Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Familiar with data infrastructure and data governance.
  • Experience in project management is a plus, including the ability to communicate with various internal and external partners.
  • Capability to solve complex tasks in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Self-motivated, organized, ambitious, and achievement-driven.
