The Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team at Celonis. As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will bring your expertise in backend software engineering to our innovative projects and continuously evolving concepts. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technology, stay on top of trends, and drive projects with an ever-increasing degree of independence.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate beyond our existing products and bring new ideas to life for Celonis.
  • Demonstrate a strong command of backend technologies.
  • Develop on the backend of our projects and ensure a seamless integration.
  • Implement and improve our test strategy to ensure high quality.
  • Ensure our solutions are scalable and maintainable and perform well.
  • Work closely with your fellow engineers, project managers, and designers to create cohesive and efficient solutions. Collaborate with adjacent teams to drive a holistic project success.
  • Learn and grow, not only in technical expertise but also in any other necessary aspects of making our projects reality.
  • Brainstorm with the entire Celonis Labs team, research potential solutions, and ultimately bring them to life.
  • Be in our office twice per week.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in backend or full stack engineering roles.
  • 5+ years of experience building production-grade software with Typescript, and its ecosystem.
  • Proven experience in building modern distributed systems (ie. scalable and stateless).
  • Proficiency in API design (e.g. REST and openAPI, GraphQL or gRPC).
  • Experience working with databases (e.g. relational DBs or noSQL DBs) and other storage technologies (e.g. blob storage such as AWS S3).
  • Proficiency working with Docker or other containerization technologies.
  • Experience working in modern software development teams (Git strategy, CI/CD, Testing,...).
  • Ability to quickly learn new things without tight supervision.
  • Ability to understand business problems and the needs of our users.
  • Problem-solving attitude.
  • Collaborative team spirit.
  • Fluent in English.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with behavior-driven development (we use).
  • Understanding of web security best practices, including authentication and authorization mechanisms and protocols (TLS, CORS, Oauth2, OpenID connect,...).
  • Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Experience in enterprise software development.
  • Experience with IaC (we use Terraform).
