Director of Fund Finance for Private Equity

Our client is a prominent private equity fund focused on investments that promote climate sustainability. They are committed to advancing industrial decarbonization by investing in mid-sized companies that provide climate solutions and supporting their growth. They are currently in search of a finance director to play a pivotal role in their mission. The role is based in Munich, Germany, and includes a flexible home office policy. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct all financial operations, including accounting, controlling, reporting, tax compliance, risk management, and administrative functions.
- Contribute to the formulation of financial strategies and long-term fiscal planning.
- Provide analytical insights and recommendations to enhance fund performance.
- Manage the preparation and presentation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly management accounts.
- Generate monthly reports for portfolio companies and investor communications.
- Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Assess key performance indicators at both the portfolio and fund levels.
- Oversee cash flow and liquidity management.
- Supervise all payment processes and ensure proper cost allocation.
- Manage all tax-related matters, including VAT and corporate tax, working with advisors to establish efficient tax structures.
- Coordinate annual audits for all group entities.
- Maintain data integrity for portfolio companies.
- Assist with investor relations, ensuring clear communication with investors and addressing ad hoc inquiries, as well as participating in fundraising efforts.
- Handle various administrative functions, including payroll and HR-related payments.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry norms.
- Monitor adherence to ESG processes and reporting requirements (e.g., SFDR).
- Continuously enhance and refine internal processes and structures.
- Act as a primary contact for portfolio companies regarding selected financial issues.
- Serve as the main liaison for external service providers, including auditors, tax advisors, and banking institutions.
- Degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Extensive relevant experience in a finance or controlling role within a private equity or venture capital fund.
- Proficient in preparing financial statements.
- Familiarity with risk management and compliance is advantageous.
- Exceptional accounting and controlling skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including Bafin and GWG, is a plus, along with experience in fully regulated funds.
- Excellent analytical skills and a methodical approach to work.
- Proactive, hands-on mindset, capable of working independently with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- A collaborative team player with an open-minded attitude.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, fluent in both German and English.
