Private Equity Fund Financial Management Director

Our client is a prominent private equity fund focused on investments that drive climate impact. They are dedicated to fostering industrial decarbonization by investing in mid-sized companies that provide climate solutions and aiding their sustainable growth. They are currently in search of a finance director to join their dynamic team on this impactful journey. The position is based in Munich, Germany, and supports a flexible work-from-home arrangement. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all financial operations, including accounting, controlling, reporting, taxation, compliance, risk management, and administrative functions.
- Contribute to the formulation of financial strategies and long-term financial planning.
- Provide analytical insights and recommendations to enhance fund performance.
- Supervise the preparation and presentation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly management accounts.
- Generate monthly reports for portfolio companies and investor communications.
- Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Assess key performance indicators at both the portfolio and fund levels.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity effectively.
- Oversee all payment processes and ensure proper cost allocation.
- Handle all tax-related matters, including VAT and corporate tax, working with advisors to implement efficient tax structures.
- Supervise annual audits for all group entities.
- Maintain data integrity for portfolio companies.
- Assist with investor relations, ensuring clear communication with investors and addressing ad hoc inquiries, as well as participating in fundraising efforts.
- Manage various administrative functions, including payroll and HR matters.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry practices.
- Monitor adherence to ESG processes and reporting requirements.
- Continuously improve and optimize internal processes and organizational structures.
- Act as a primary contact for portfolio companies regarding specific financial issues.
- Serve as the main liaison for external service providers, including auditors, tax consultants, and banking institutions.
- University degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Extensive relevant experience in a finance or controlling role within a private equity or venture capital fund.
- Proficient in preparing financial statements.
- Prior experience in risk management and compliance is advantageous.
- Exceptional accounting and controlling skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with regulatory matters, including Bafin and GWG, is a plus, as well as experience with fully regulated funds.
- Excellent analytical skills and a structured work approach.
- Proactive and hands-on, with the ability to work independently and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- A collaborative team player with an open-minded attitude.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, fluent in both German and English.
