About the Role:
In this position, you will oversee the Software Factory strategy and culture across all of HARMAN Automotive to perpetually enhance software engineering practices. Essentially, a Software Factory is a cohesive set of tools, services, data, and processes that empowers engineers to plan, build, test, adaptively release, and/or manage software. You will lead a team of delivery specialists to transform the engineering organization into a cloud-based design, development, and testing factory. This role will collaborate with the SBU product and project teams to implement a Software Factory approach with a high level of expertise and consistency. Additionally, this team will be tasked with researching industry best practices for modern software development and delivery of state-of-the-art technology products.
Key Responsibilities
Assess industry operating model benchmarks and work alongside SBU Engineering Excellence and technology leaders to define implementation roadmaps. Lead a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, and technology leaders with expertise in cloud-based software design, development, simulation, and testing methodologies. Inspire, motivate, support, and hold SBU product and project teams accountable for adopting new operating model initiatives, processes, tools, and capabilities. Collaborate with SBU Engineering Excellence, Delivery, and Domain leadership to establish a unified enterprise-level software engineering strategy, testing methodologies, and models, ensuring full adoption by product and project engineering teams. Drive results and monitor effectiveness through performance metrics, targets, and forecasts to foster continuous improvements in Automotive Engineering. Cultivate and advance engineering excellence concepts into a mature state of work (processes, tools, capabilities) for implementation readiness. Partner with Automotive Services to leverage operating model initiatives to develop software practices as a service. Ensure that the interests of engineering stakeholders, including Manufacturing, Digital Twin, Divisional Technology, Procurement, and Customer Groups, are represented in the implementation of enterprise engineering operating models.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Over 10 years of relevant technical experience. More than 5 years in a leadership role managing global teams in an Automotive context. Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux, Cloud Platforms (preferably Azure), and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Docker Compose, GitOps, and shell scripting. Comprehensive understanding of software development processes within the automotive sector, including Continuous Delivery and virtual simulation. Proven experience in building and maintaining a team of highly skilled professionals. Experience in defining, monitoring, and acting on KPIs to drive improvements. Background in consulting with and advising a large-scale, distributed global engineering organization. Ability to articulate a vision and influence decision-making outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers. Exhibits a mindset focused on continuous improvement of engineering execution methods and tools. Capacity to enforce the application of software engineering standards across multiple vertical engineering departments. Prior experience in a strategy consulting firm with Automotive clients, along with hands-on experience in designing, building, securing, and managing Kubernetes on the cloud at scale, is a plus.What We Offer
