Role Overview:
In this position, you will spearhead the Software Factory strategy and foster a culture of continuous improvement in software engineering across HARMAN Automotive. Essentially, a Software Factory is a cohesive suite of tools, services, data, and processes that empowers engineers to plan, build, test, and manage software effectively. You will guide a team of delivery specialists to transition the engineering organization into a cloud-centric design, development, and testing facility. This role will collaborate with product and project teams to implement a Software Factory methodology with a high level of expertise and uniformity. Additionally, your team will assess industry standards to identify best practices for modern software development and delivery of cutting-edge technology products.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze industry benchmarks and partner with SBU Engineering Excellence and technology leaders to outline implementation strategies. Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and technology experts skilled in cloud-based software design, development, simulation, and testing. Inspire, support, and hold SBU product and project teams accountable for adopting new operational model initiatives, processes, and tools. Collaborate with SBU Engineering Excellence, Delivery, and Domain leadership to establish a unified enterprise-level software engineering strategy and testing methodologies, ensuring full integration by product and project engineering teams. Drive performance results and monitor effectiveness through metrics and targets to foster continuous enhancements in Automotive Engineering. Nurture and develop engineering excellence concepts into a mature state of work, ensuring readiness for implementation. Work with Automotive Services to leverage operational model initiatives to establish software practices as a service. Represent the interests of engineering stakeholders, including Manufacturing, Digital Twin, Divisional Technology, Procurement, and Customer Groups, in the execution of enterprise engineering operating models.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Over 10 years of relevant technical experience. More than 5 years in a leadership role managing global teams within the automotive sector. Extensive hands-on knowledge of Linux, Cloud Platforms (preferably Azure), and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Docker Compose, GitOps, and shell scripting. Profound understanding of software development processes in the automotive industry, including Continuous Delivery and virtual simulation. Proven experience in building and sustaining a team of highly skilled professionals. Demonstrated ability to define, monitor, and act on KPIs to drive improvements. Experience in consulting and advising a large-scale distributed global engineering organization. Ability to communicate a vision and influence decision-making among internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers. Embody a mindset focused on continuous improvement of engineering execution methods and tools. Capability to enforce software engineering standards across multiple engineering departments. Prior experience in a strategy consulting firm with automotive clients, along with hands-on experience in designing, building, securing, and managing Kubernetes on a large scale in the cloud, is advantageous.Benefits
