Key Responsibilities
As a Senior WAN Engineer in the hyperscaler platform such as Microsoft Azure, you will have the opportunity to shape, implement, and maintain the network architecture within Azure, playing a pivotal role in ensuring optimal connectivity between the corporate network and cloud resources. Your responsibilities will include integrating ExpressRoute connections, continuously optimizing network performance, and implementing advanced security measures to protect the Azure infrastructure according to the highest standards. You will actively participate in resolving network issues and leverage automation tools to create repeatable processes, enhancing the efficiency of your operations. This position not only provides insights into the latest Azure technologies but also allows you to be part of a dynamic team shaping the future of cloud network infrastructure.
- Design, implement, and operate our reliable and adaptable network infrastructure, ensuring it meets current requirements and is well-equipped for future developments.
- Optimize the network infrastructure to ensure seamless and efficient communication between various locations as well as our customers.
- Ensure the reliability and performance of our network, identifying and resolving network issues and outages.
- Develop and implement network policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with other teams to ensure the seamless integration of WAN solutions with other enterprise systems.
- Monitor network traffic, continuously optimize the network, and plan capacity, leveraging advanced monitoring tools to identify bottlenecks in real-time and proactively enhance performance.
- Develop and maintain network documentation and topology diagrams, regularly reviewing and updating this documentation in response to changes in the network infrastructure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, preferably in a WAN environment.
- Extensive experience with network operating systems from various vendors such as Junos-Evo, NXOS, IOS-XR, and network protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VLANs, VxLAN/EVPN, and VRF.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- The ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP are a plus.
- Ability to design and document innovative network architectures to meet requirements.
- Willingness to participate in rotating 24x7 on-call duty.
- Fluent German and English language skills.
