About SafeNow

We are a rapidly growing startup on a mission to bring safety into the pockets of every person on the planet, for free. Our goal is to develop an app that provides instant access to locally relevant helpers, whether that is friends, family, or professional helpers.

We are a small team with a big heart based in Munich, consisting of 18 members with 7 different nationalities. Our team is passionate about changing the world for the better and is looking for a skilled Backend Developer to help us push our SafeNow apps even further.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop our backend further together with the development team to meet the requirements of our international growth in the future
  • Continue working on our services implemented in Kotlin and contribute conceptually to new services or rewrites
  • Prioritize stability, maintainability, and test automation, fostering a collaborative, open culture for quality-driven software development
Requirements
  • Several years of experience in developing backend systems in Java, ideally with Kotlin
  • Experience with database systems
  • Experience with event architectures; familiarity with Hasura and Kafka (or RedPanda) is advantageous
  • Preferably located in or around Munich and able to come to the office weekly (fully remote possible but not preferred)
  • Fluent in English, as our team is diverse, and good communication is essential for integration
