Based in our Braunschweig office for three days a week, the new Director of Business Development will spearhead the strategic evolution of the organization, focusing on investments in emerging markets and innovative technologies that align with our broader Haymarket Media Group portfolio.
Objective
To articulate, lead, communicate, and implement a growth strategy for Haymarket Media GmbH. This will necessitate a comprehensive review of the current business and its capabilities, as well as the identification of growth opportunities in new sectors, particularly within the Medical education and publishing domain.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Drive digital transformation initiatives, such as Project Rhino, aimed at establishing a sustainable, digital future for the German horticultural sector, utilizing a known audience, paid content, and a data-driven approach.
- Provide clear direction and purpose for the executive team and the broader employee base.
- Formulate a vision for the business that reflects market trends and industry dynamics.
- Enhance Haymarket Media GmbH's competitive edge through market insights, strategic investments, and high-quality execution.
- In prioritizing business objectives, blend an intuitive grasp of Haymarket's values with evidence-based research and rationale.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies for their mitigation as necessary.
- Foster a cohesive leadership team equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate the next phase of growth.
Operational Management
- Prioritize business and investment strategies based on their potential for value creation and associated risks.
- Ensure timely development, research, assessment, and decision-making regarding new business ideas.
- Collaborate with other divisions of Haymarket to optimize global brand management and capitalize on Group opportunities.
- Establish and nurture both internal and external networks to create a formidable presence and influence in target markets.
- Define, share, and continuously evaluate key performance indicators to drive results.
Talent Development
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of talent and capabilities, identifying skills gaps and areas for upskilling.
- Continue to cultivate a culture at Haymarket Media GmbH that aligns with our vision and values, as well as our overarching Haymarket IMPACT ESG strategy, including our goal of achieving BCorp certification.
- Demonstrate strong leadership through decisive management.
- Engage the senior management team to gain their support.
- Focus on nurturing talent at all levels and aligning it with high-margin brands.

Candidate Profile

While knowledge or interest in the horticulture sector would be advantageous, it is not a prerequisite. The successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly.
