Project Assistant

Position: Project Assistant - Funding and Smart City
The City of Aalen is a progressive organization dedicated to delivering exceptional services to its community. We prioritize high-quality service, operational effectiveness, and efficiency. Our workforce consists of approximately 1,300 skilled and committed professionals who excel in their roles.
The Smart City initiative represents the growing digital integration of various aspects of urban life in Aalen, engaging citizens, local government, businesses, educational institutions, and political entities. Since becoming part of the federally-supported Smart City pilot program, Aalen has been at the forefront of digital transformation. Our objective is to allocate around 7.5 million euros towards innovative digital solutions and projects in Aalen by 2027.
We are currently seeking a full-time Project Assistant focused on Funding and Smart City initiatives (m/f/d) to enhance our Smart City team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engaging in the pilot project with an emphasis on funding
- Planning, overseeing, and managing the budget for Smart City initiatives
- Preparing and maintaining financial reports and controls for Smart City projects
- Managing accounting and funding processes
- Drafting procurement documents and overseeing tendering procedures
- Securing funding and assisting the team with application processes
- Supporting the execution of Smart City projects and initiatives
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in financial accounting, preferably with a focus on funding management
- Completed commercial training with a qualification in financial accounting
- Alternatively, a degree in business administration or relevant experience in public administration with expertise in procurement and funding management
- Organized and methodical approach to work
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Proficient in the MS Office suite and potentially Informa
- Interest in and understanding of contemporary digital trends and technologies
