Job Title: Health & Safety Advisor - Rail (Permanent)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our employees and stakeholders on rail construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Project Management team and Site Health and Safety Lead in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Adhere to the project's Safety Management System and relevant Environmental, Health and Safety statutory provisions and legislation.
  • Review Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Safe Plan of Action, and Permit to Work to ensure they are up-to-date and compliant.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections, document results, and follow up on any corrective actions.
  • Maintain records of statutory inspections and make them available for project activities, tools, and plant.
  • Ensure project sub-contractors adhere to project and group EHS policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage Winthrop Technologies induction and training.
  • Compile and conduct Toolbox talks as necessary.
  • Assist or carry out accident investigation reports in a timely manner and ensure communication to Winthrop Technologies project management.
  • Ensure welfare and hygiene facilities are in place, managed, and maintained.
  • Attend daily activity briefings and whiteboard meetings.
  • Maintain waste reduction and recycling programs in line with project policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Relevant third-level degree qualification in Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • 3+ years' experience on large construction sites.
  • Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health, and safety legislation.
  • Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
  • Ability to efficiently manage all environmental, health, and safety issues on site.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
