EDA Software Engineer for Integrated Circuits

**Position Overview**

The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS is seeking a dedicated **EDA Software Engineer and Administrator**. This role involves the administration of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) systems related to integrated circuit design and the development of virtualization strategies to support our engineering teams.

**Key Responsibilities**
  • Collaborate with a team of developers and researchers to design and implement virtualization solutions, including platforms for remote desktop virtualization and grid computing.
  • Install and configure CAD systems pertinent to microelectronics, including libraries and process design kits (PDKs) for integrated circuit designers.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of systems and serve as the primary contact for technical support to colleagues.
  • Contribute to public research initiatives by developing and managing a cloud infrastructure that enhances access to CAD software and PDKs for external collaborators.
  • Create testbenches for PDK testing and validation.
  • Receive tailored training on systems based on individual experience levels.


**Qualifications**
  • A degree in electrical engineering with a specialization in microelectronics or computer science.
  • Proficient in Linux systems, preferably RedHat/Rocky Linux.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as tcsh, bash, perl, python, and Cadence-Skill.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor) for integrated circuit development is preferred.
  • Knowledge of web servers and databases is advantageous.
  • Strong customer service orientation, teamwork capabilities, and independent work organization skills.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English; knowledge of German is a plus.

**Additional Information**

This position is initially limited in duration, with the potential for extension. The standard weekly working hours are 39, with options for part-time arrangements.
