Job Summary:

Sharp Brains is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data center infrastructure. This includes performing break-fix tasks, provisioning new circuits, and deploying new equipment. You will also be responsible for maintaining our network infrastructure, including cabling, fiber optics, and server hardware. If you have a strong background in IT infrastructure, network administration, and telecom industry experience, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform break-fix tasks, including visually inspecting devices, rebooting routers and servers, and replacing components or cables.
  • Provision new circuits, including installing cables and optics, and testing and configuring equipment.
  • Deploy new equipment, including racking and de-racking devices, and labeling and inventorying equipment.
  • Maintain our network infrastructure, including cabling, fiber optics, and server hardware.
  • Perform OTDR testing, configuration, and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, data center infrastructure, or telecom industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in fiber optic technology.
  • CCNA, Network+, CCNP, CCDP, or CCIE certification, or equivalent.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proven experience in a network administrator role.
  • Hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching.
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
  • Proficient knowledge with OTDR.
