We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Biologist/Bioinformatician to join our team at Universitätsklinikum Regensburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing novel computational models, bioinformatics tools, workflows, and pipelines to analyze microbiome data.
Responsibilities- Design and implement computational models and bioinformatics tools to analyze large biological datasets
- Perform genomic, metagenomic, and marker gene analyses using various omics technologies
- Manage and analyze complex biological data to solve scientific questions
- Support senior researchers in the processing, analysis, and interpretation of transcriptomic and epigenomic next-generation sequencing data
- Provide bioinformatics consulting and software training to junior researchers
- Collaborate with team members to refine research approaches and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals
- Academic degree (M.Sc./PhD) in a relevant field, such as Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Biology, Data Sciences, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics
- Experience in programming and/or data analysis using languages such as R, Python, Perl, or C++
- Experience with microbial genomics and metagenomics, including data processing and analysis
- Passion for adopting new technologies and problem-solving
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Interest in communicating, collaborating, and connecting different scientific disciplines
