We are seeking an experienced PHY Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at Apple. As a member of our L1/PHY control system engineering team, you will be responsible for the integration of new features to our 4G/5G modem architecture.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze 3GPP requirements for new features and map them to the modem architecture.
- Break down new features into blocks depending on the timing and hardware requirements and define interfaces between them.
- Define use cases and create end-to-end message flows.
- Analyze timing requirements.
- Work closely together with cross-functional teams (System Engineering, RF, Hardware, Firmware) to ensure the concept fits into the system and firmware architecture.
- Define test cases to support the verification process with log analysis and debugging.
- Solid understanding of 4G/5G basic features and their PHY CTRL related procedures (C-DRX, RA, DC, CA, BM, CSI-RS).
- In-depth knowledge of use-case and interface definition in UML.
- Strong knowledge of 3GPP cellular communication standards about RRC, MAC and PHY for LTE and 5G NR.
- Experience with Matlab, C++ and JavaScript or Python programming.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (debugging and fixing of defects).
- Ability to work in a team and excellent English interpersonal skills.
- Experience in chip bring-up including the use of lab equipment.
- Knowledge in Machine Learning.
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Information Engineering with shown years of working experience or PhD in relevant field with proven working experience.
