YOUR ROLE:
We are seeking a Senior Security Development Engineer (f/m/d) to join the Security Engineering group within the Technology & Engineering division of the newly established Sovereign Cloud Delivery & Operations team, part of the Customer Services & Delivery board area.
In this position, you will be a foundational member of the Technology and Engineering team. You will collaborate with existing infrastructure and product specialists to develop a globally distributed team of highly motivated professionals responsible for the secure deployment, upgrades, and lifecycle management of the Sovereign Cloud non-production security infrastructure.
Your role will involve inspiring innovation and executing disciplined and standardized security processes and tools to address critical capability gaps and enhance efficiency. You will assist in identifying trade-offs in security deployment strategies and make key operational decisions that significantly impact infrastructure investments.
You will guide the team in reinforcing best practices for automated provisioning of foundational cloud infrastructure and Sovereign Cloud-ready SAP products.
Your responsibilities will include managing the development and automation of security solutions in alignment with our security strategy. You will ensure that the team's knowledge base remains current with native hyperscaler capabilities and modern infrastructure management tools. From this baseline, you will design security concepts for our global infrastructure management.
This role will require significant coordination with global Sovereign Cloud operations teams and our hyperscaler provider partners.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Due to the sensitive nature of our work, you must be willing to undergo a governmental security clearance process, requiring EU, NATO, or FIVE EYES country member nationality or residency. Additionally, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields
- The ability to navigate ambiguities while fostering innovation and collaboration
- A technical approach to designing specifications for large-scale networks
- Strong analytical and research skills, with a readiness to learn new topics swiftly
- Strategic thinking capabilities to deliver services that meet stakeholder demands promptly
- Experience in integrating Open Source and Commercial technologies to achieve objectives
- A commitment to contributing to Open Source security projects and the broader security community
- Experience in provisioning and supporting new and existing security cloud services using Terraform
- Proven documentation skills for processes and procedures
- Experience leading cross-architecture teams
- The ability to influence without formal authority
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- The ability to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should have:
- A solid understanding of infrastructure and security-related topics
- A minimum of 5 years of software development experience across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including hands-on experience with infrastructure, application, or database migration
- Experience deploying technical infrastructure on a global scale
- A balanced expertise in both full-stack application development and infrastructure development
- A thorough understanding of infrastructure firewalls, load balancers, storage, monitoring, security, IAM, etc., with experience in orchestration for cloud solutions
- Strong experience in operating systems administration and security engineering
- Working knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD tools, and GIT
- Familiarity with Log Correlation, Vulnerability Management, and Web Application Testing concepts is advantageous
- Experience managing and securing Kubernetes environments
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as NIST or ISO
- Experience securing products on AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus
- Familiarity with sovereign cloud or Gaia-X concepts is a plus
