Senior Director, Software Engineering Leader

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Director, Software Engineering to lead our Transactions tribe, driving the development of business-critical services for our e-commerce platform. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing Senior Engineering Managers and collaborating with product leadership to define the roadmap for our core teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with experience in managing complex distributed systems and leading high-performing teams. You will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability of our systems, as well as driving quality and fairness in our team's performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support Senior Engineering Managers to achieve their full potential.
- Develop and implement a deep understanding of our business processes and participate in defining the roadmap for our core teams.
- Plan and ensure the scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability of our systems.
- Drive both quarterly and long-term objectives and key results with full responsibility for executing our OKRs.
- Collaborate with product leadership to define the tribe's long-term strategy (3+ years).
- Champion best engineering practices and provide a pragmatic voice on where to invest engineering effort.
Requirements:
- Experience working with complex distributed systems.
- Experience managing Senior Engineering Managers and multiple teams.
- Responsibility for a high-complexity and high-traffic project or application.
- Experience adapting to different engineering cultures to drive pragmatic solutions.
- An interest in promoting continuous deployment, agile planning, cloud-based systems, experimentation, and testing.
- Possession of a passion for shaping the engineering culture of a growing team.
