Operations Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team at LyondellBasell. As a key member of our project leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining project estimating, scheduling, cost, and risk management processes that meet the quality and technical requirements of our Project Management Process (PMP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Function in a Project Manager role on one or more large projects, responsible for establishing and maintaining project estimating, scheduling, cost, and risk management processes that meet the quality and technical requirements of LyondellBasell's Project Management Process (PMP) and applicable Project Controls Guidelines (PEWP).
  • Prepare the Project Controls Plan based on the scope and execution strategy for each project, developing and reviewing schedules, estimates, and risk registers included in the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Ensure maintenance (including review and audit) of the estimating, cost, and scheduling processes and tools of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, aligning with LyondellBasell requirements.
  • Ensure that the cost estimates, schedules, man-hour budgets, scope changes, cost trends, and budget revisions produced by contractors, subcontractors, and vendors are reviewed appropriately.
  • Develop and review the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), working with project teams and contractors to ensure compliance with WBS, CBS, and work packaging requirements through appropriate segregation and coding.
  • Analyze project controls data to proactively identify problems and propose solutions, serving as a member of the Project Leadership Team and advising and counseling Project Managers on controls-related matters.
  • Ensure that all project controls data is collected and captured in the appropriate LyondellBasell systems (PIMS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or substantial relevant work experience.
  • Membership or certification from a project management profession (PMP) is desirable.
  • 15+ years of Project Controls experience, preferably in relation to the petrochemical or refining industry.
  • Functional experience in the area of cost control, planning/scheduling, estimating, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of contracting practices, project management practices, and financial system processes related to project management.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE), and SAP, as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office software suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated management experience or the ability to successfully influence project teams.
  • Ability to surface conflicts and resolve them effectively, as well as push back on leadership when required to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate effectively within project teams, site organizations, and corporate departments.
  • International project controls experience is a plus.
  • English is required, and knowledge of other languages (such as Dutch or German) is desirable.
