Your Role and Team:

We are seeking a driven and seasoned Manufacturing Engineer to work closely with our suppliers and various internal stakeholders. Your primary objective will be to ensure that the battery pack components we design can be manufactured efficiently and to high standards by our suppliers. You will be an integral part of a cross-functional supplier team, reporting to the Head of Supply Chain Energy.

Your Daily Responsibilities:

  • Mitigate production risks of newly developed components by:
    - Analyzing potential production processes
    - Aligning them with our suppliers' capabilities
    - Identifying manufacturing risks and capability deficiencies
    - Collaborating with internal designers and suppliers to enhance component design, minimize manufacturing risks, and address capability gaps
  • Oversee tooling availability, equipment readiness, and process qualification at suppliers to facilitate timely initial production of new components.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and collaborate with the supply chain manager to understand and optimize supplier production capacity.
  • Work with suppliers to determine technical solutions for gradually automating production and assist in scaling high-volume automated production lines.
  • Comprehend the in-house assembly process of the battery pack and translate those requirements into manufacturing specifications for our suppliers.

Your Profile:

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English
  • Over 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role
  • Experience with metallic manufacturing processes (forming, joining, separating, coating, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerance chains
  • Proactive mindset with problem-solving capabilities
  • Willingness to make informed decisions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and consensus among team members
  • Willingness to travel across Europe and occasionally worldwide for supplier visits

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluent in German
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing processes (forming, joining, separating, etc.)
  • Knowledge of lean production principles
  • Understanding of production automation
  • Ability to evaluate different automation solutions based on process stability, speed, and tolerances
  • Familiarity with PPAP/APQP processes
  • Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Level or Technology Readiness Level development
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and relevant inspection capabilities for Electronics
  • Experience in influencing design through Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost (DFC), and RCCA activities.
