At BMW Car IT, a fully owned subsidiary of BMW AG, we are passionate about software development. Our team is dedicated to designing and implementing embedded software for the electronic control units of BMW vehicles, along with associated tools and frameworks. By guiding software from conception to final product, we are at the forefront of digitalization and mobility in the automotive industry.

We focus on the design, implementation, integration, and testing of embedded software for the electronic control units within the BMW Group's vehicles. In a global work environment, you will contribute to the creation of the Safe Software Platform, which supports driver assistance technologies for the next generation of our automobiles. This platform encompasses the BSP, a Safe POSIX operating system, Adaptive AUTOSAR middleware, and SoC lifecycle components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a project leader, you will oversee the delivery of BMW software platforms for next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving technologies.
  • You will be an integral member of the software management team, taking personal responsibility for project targets, milestones, and timelines.
  • Your role will involve driving the planning and monitoring of backlog items with a strong focus on delivery.
  • You will align and manage changes in requirements and priorities while overseeing dependencies across various domains.
  • Reviewing and approving software deliveries to ensure compliance with requirements and achievement of project milestones will be part of your duties.
  • You will guide both internal and external delivery teams, as well as third-party software vendors contributing to your area.
  • Reporting on your progress against established priorities and objectives to project management and other stakeholders will round out your responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software engineering and project leadership within Linux- or QNX-based embedded systems, including Adaptive AUTOSAR or similar middleware.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading distributed software development teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage in technical discussions with business-level stakeholders.
  • Proven project management experience; relevant certifications and training (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) are advantageous.
  • A delivery-oriented mindset, self-motivation, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262, ISO 21434, and Automotive SPICE is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in German is an advantage.
