Strahlenschutztechniker - Radiation Protection Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Protection Technician to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a Radiation Protection Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe handling and use of radioactive materials in our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct radiation surveys and measurements to ensure personnel, equipment, and the environment are protected.
- Perform prescribed leak tests on controlled sources and analyze radiological surveys, measurements, and wipe tests to satisfy Nuclear Regulatory Commission and US Army Radiation Authorization requirements.
- Assist in developing methods and procedures for implementing the USAREUR Radiation Protection Program.
- Provide assistance in radiation accidents and excessive or abnormal radiation exposures to identify causes and effects.
- Prepare comprehensive reports or briefings to advise operating officials of unsafe environmental conditions and required remedial action.
- Perform calibrations and isolate malfunctions of complex and unique RADIAC equipment.
- Manage and control comprehensive database required for the radioactive material inventory of the Nucleonic ACL and USAREUR RMPF.
- Perform demilitarization's of devices with radioactive components and receive radioactive material for USAREUR RMPF.
- Operate and monitor complex electronic equipment which measures and analyzes radioactive material.
- Perform physical inventories of radioactive source material/equipment and coordinate shipments of accumulated Radioactive Material (RAM) generated from USAREUR/7th Army and other theater-wide Department of Defense organizations.
- Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.
- Office automation skills are required.
- English Language Proficiency level C1 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.
This is a permanent full-time position (38.5 hrs./week). The incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher or full performance level in accordance with regulatory requirements, upon completion of required training, and recommendation of supervisor.
The incumbent of this position is occasionally required to perform TDY (Temporary Duty Travel) within Germany. Employee must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
