Job Title: Ground Segment Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Ground Segment Systems Engineer to join our team at Airbus Defence and Space GmbH in Taufkirchen, Germany.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the concept, design, development, and technical procurement of Ground Segment extensions and modifications of SATCOMBw and EDRS Ground Segments for new customers as well as for the support of further satellites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements engineering with DOORS in the area of the ground segment and lower levels
  • Conceptual design activities in the area of ground systems engineering, including requirement, interface, user data, and management data flow within the ground segment as well as TM/TC interfaces
  • Establishment of requirements for ground segment items, e.g., ground stations, mission operation center, spacecraft control center, payload control center, networks incl. IT infrastructure, and data centers
  • Elaboration of system trade-offs in the area of ground segment engineering and support of the overall system architecture definition
  • Elaboration of verification and validation concepts at ground system level and support of relevant tests

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Microwave, Telecommunications, Electronics, or other related Engineering disciplines
  • Profound knowledge of ground segment engineering, i.e., technical interface, data flow (for user and management data) as well as TM/TC engineering (secure and unsecured)
  • Strong knowledge of communication engineering including RF link budgets and antenna designs
  • Strong experience in software-based systems, networks, and IT infrastructure
  • Experience in Ground Station engineering
  • Experience in design, development, integration, verification, operations of Ground Systems and associated processes and operational procedures
  • Business fluency in English and German
