Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Global IP Operations to join our team at Giesecke+Devrient GmbH.

About the Role

As a key member of our Global IP Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency and excellence of our IP operations capability. This includes maintaining and developing a team of patent attorneys, setting standards and policies to ensure excellence in patent, design right, and trademark work, and ensuring quality and requirements for work done by external patent law firms.

You will also be responsible for developing the capability of the team over time to meet the demands of the businesses, including recruiting, developing, and running performance reviews with all patent attorneys. Additionally, you will ensure information sharing and integration among the Patent Attorneys, across IP Portfolio Teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set standards and policies to ensure excellence and best practices for all patent, design rights, and trademark workflows.
  • Manage the continuous evaluation and selection of external patent law firms globally.
  • Represent Giesecke+Devrient GmbH in front of Patent offices and courts of arbitration.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of processes, approaches, frameworks, and tools for patent attorney work.
Requirements

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled European and/or German Patent Attorney with strong leadership abilities and a minimum of five years of people management experience. Fluency in German is required, and proficiency in English is a plus.
