PhD Researcher in Audiovisual Perception

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified PhD student to join our research team at the Institute of Media Technology, Technische Universität Ilmenau. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative project investigating audiovisual perception and cognition in interaction with eXtended Reality (XR) environments.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate questions of audiovisual perception and cognition in XR environments, focusing on audiovisual scene analysis and speech perception in complex scenes.
- Design and record corresponding audiovisual scenes using 360° video and Unity-based environments.
- Analyse human audiovisual perception and cognition using various methods.
- Collaborate with other researchers and industry partners to advance the project.
- Master's degree in Media Informatics, Media Technology, or a related field.
- Practical experience in audio/video/multimedia technology, digital video signal processing, voice communication, statistical analysis methods, and empirical studies.
- Excellent knowledge of Unity or Unreal Engine, and proficiency in C#, Python, C/C++, R, ffmpeg, and Blender.
- Very good knowledge of English and German in writing and communication.
