Creating a Sustainable Future

The Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) initiative is a significant 5-year endeavor aimed at establishing a 525kV, 2GW high voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea transmission cable. This project will represent the longest HVDC cable in the UK and stands as the largest single transmission project in the country, capable of powering 2 million homes. This undertaking is a collaboration with Hitachi Energy (HEBAM), which will oversee the construction of two HVDC Converter Stations.

We are seeking to enhance our Site Engineering team to manage various facets of this extensive project. The work will be based in a location adjacent to a major power station.

Your Responsibilities

As a Site Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Upholding high standards of safety and environmental practices.
  • Overseeing the work of assistant engineers.
  • Ensuring that construction drawings and specifications are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Providing precise and clear site layout for construction activities.
  • Collaborating with foremen and team leaders to ensure clarity of information.
  • Arranging formal checks of site layouts.
  • Completing inspection and testing plans.
  • Maintaining a detailed daily site diary.
  • Preparing four-weekly work schedules.
  • Calculating accurate material requirements.
  • Keeping track of material reconciliation for reporting purposes.
  • Ensuring delivery tickets for materials are processed for cost allocation.
  • Conducting testing and sampling of materials.
  • Assisting the measurement department as needed.
  • Maintaining survey records.
  • Receiving materials and performing necessary checks.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who meet the following mandatory criteria:

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or an equivalent NVQ Level.
  • CSCS Level - Academically or Professionally Qualified Person/Supervisory/Manager.
  • SSSTS certification.


Desirable qualifications include:

  • Proven experience at the Assistant Engineer level.
  • Progress towards achieving ICE Technician or Incorporated level or equivalent.
