The Software Architect also engages with external partners and clients to gather requirements and steer development efforts. This role requires a blend of hands-on engineering skills and leadership capabilities to foster innovation, influence stakeholders, and mentor engineering teams. Staying abreast of industry trends is essential to enhance products, practices, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product management, customer success, senior leadership, external partners, and clients to understand and discuss requirements and long-term product strategies.
- Deepen your understanding of NEVIS Security's value proposition.
- Partner with Engineering and SRE teams to establish software architecture and technology strategies that meet product and business needs, considering existing architecture and constraints.
- Develop technology roadmaps, architecture blueprints, and software design concepts while driving the adoption of new technologies and phasing out outdated ones.
- Facilitate technology discussions and present architectural and technical solutions to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist teams in translating architecture into detailed designs and support implementation as necessary.
- Aid teams in planning and estimation, particularly for high-risk or innovative development tasks.
- Participate in code and design reviews for complex and innovative features.
- Engage in the implementation of complex and innovative features when required.
- Provide support in managing escalations when technical challenges arise, contributing to investigations and resolutions, and participating in post-mortems as needed.
- Monitor industry trends in software technology, best practices, and security-related topics, applying this knowledge to technical decisions.
- Create prototypes and proof of concepts for new features and technologies, evaluate outcomes, and present findings.
- Enhance and refine the methodologies, practices, and tools utilized by engineering teams.
- Foster the development of technical skills within the engineering community through mentoring, training, and shaping the overall engineering culture.
- Participate in recruitment efforts as necessary and assist in onboarding new team members.
- Engage in pre-sales activities and lead engineering aspects when required.
Candidate Profile
Successful candidates will likely possess:
- A BSc or MSc degree in a STEM field, coupled with over 7 years of hands-on software development experience.
- Experience in a technical leadership or architect role.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
- A strong analytical mindset, clear thinking, and a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
- Proficient prioritization and problem-solving abilities.
- A capacity to foster innovation and act as a change agent.
- Skills in technical coaching and mentoring, along with the ability to deliver technical training.
- Knowledge of modern architectural patterns relevant to cloud and hybrid deployment environments.
- Familiarity with the SaaS delivery model, including operational aspects.
- Experience in enterprise, web, and cloud-based application development, with knowledge of related technologies (e.g., Java, Angular, Spring Boot, K8s, RDBMS, OpenTelemetry).
- Cybersecurity domain knowledge is advantageous (e.g., OpenID, SAML).
- Understanding of modern development methodologies, tools, and best practices (CI/CD, automated testing, release management, etc.), along with non-functional characteristics such as scalability, security, and high availability.
- Fluency in English.
